White kurtas, oiled hair, and cooled thandai — the festival of colours is not complete without some tried and tested rituals. While friends and relatives gather to celebrate Holi and indulge in some innocent colour smearing, fretting about how you will get the stains out of your clothes should not dampen your spirits. For the beauty conscious, or for those who have to report to work the next morning for that crucial client meeting, we have a solution!

Dr Mikki Singh,
dermatologist and medical director of Bodycraft Clinics, Gurgaon shares a step-by-step guide to remove persistent color stains from your face, body, and hair:

1. Act Quickly with Lukewarm Water and Gentle Cleanser:  Wash your skin with lukewarm water at once. Apply a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser to remove the colours without causing irritation to your skin.

2. Natural Oils or Oil-Based Cleanser: Apply natural oils such as olive oil or coconut oil. Rub a little into the color areas to dissolve the color pigments, then wash off gently. They don't just break the dyes but also moisturize your skin.

3. Natural Exfoliation: Make a mild scrub with substances such as gram flour or sugar blended with oil or yoghurt. It removes
the remaining color by lightly exfoliating the skin without being too harsh.

4. Use Micellar Water on the Face: Micellar water may be very useful for your face. It's gentle and gently pulls impurities—and even persistent color—away from the skin while moistening your skin.

5. Hair Deep Conditioning: If your hair is compromised, use a deep conditioner or hair mask that has hydrating oils in it. Leave it to sit for a few minutes before rinsing it out. This removes the colour while keeping your hair moisturized and safe from damage.
